Abstract :
An active multidimensional ´drop filter´ built of electroholographic (EH) wavelength selective switches is described schematically. The switches are arranged in a full crossbar configuration. The WDM signal entering the device through the input port is first collimated and then broken into its single wavelength channels by a set of passive filters. Each component is directed along one of the columns of the crossbar. By activating the appropriate EH switch the respective component will be diverted to the selected output. Thus, any group of selected WDM channels can be permutated between the output.
