Abstract :
This discussion looks at the issue of bandwidth in the critical role it plays in video distribution. Content providers, broadcasters, distribution and etc. must abide by the restrictive physics of large data volume and limited channels. Add to this the increasing demands for higher quality and the problems become significant. The large abundance of available channels that are often limited by market and other factors must be considered in the attempt to achieve the triple-play in a profitable way. The process is ultimately limited by bandwidth when one considers the evolution and ultimate convergence of the computer and the television and the increasing consumer demand for more manageable content, freedom of choice and improved telepresence.
