Abstract
In conclusion, numerical simulations have been used to investigate the dynamic gain response of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and operating characteristics of terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) subject to picosecond pulses, taking into account both gain saturation and nonlinear gain compression. The calculations show that the width of the oscillatory structure is always larger than 1 ps. This indicates that a TOAD structure with a switching window narrower than 1 ps cannot be achieved in practice
