Abstract
This study proposes a general architecture for performing various opto-electronic chaos generators, which can be used in high bit rate encryption system for optical telecommunication. The authors have developed three such opto-electronic set-ups, with a potential bit rate of several Gbit/s. These set-ups are producing chaotic dynamics on different optical quantities, the wavelength, the intensity, or the optical path difference. Their dynamics are described by non linear delayed differential equations, which are well-known to allow chaotic trajectories with dimensions as high as several hundreds.
