Abstract :
This paper describes a class of Schneider write equalizations which can be used in the (1,k) peak detection channel to counteract linear peak shift due to intersymbol interference (ISI). This class of write equalizations are with zero degree phase shift and with inserted pulse width equal to TIM, where M is an integer greater than 1 (for M greater than or equal to 2) and T is the channel bit period. They have the same hardware implementation except the write clock. If M is even, the write clock operates at 2M times the original data clock. If M is odd, the write clock operates at M times the original data clock The transfer function of the equalization can be calculated by the "PRQ-method" as described by Schneider (1985, 1988).
