This paper describes the rationale of catastrophe theory, designs the index system of coal mine safety management and establishes the evaluation model of mine safety management based on catastrophe theory. We can see that the level of mine safety management of Pingdingshan Coal Group by applying the evaluation model of mine safety management based on catastrophe theory. The model can objectively and accurately evaluates the level of coal mine safety management which provides aid decision making for managers.
