Abstract :
This work aims to give a more detailed description of the polarization dynamics in vertical-cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) with isotropic optical feedback. The dependencies of the characteristics of pulsations of different time-scale on the pump current, on the feedback strength and on the intrinsic anisotropy are investigated. Changes in the dynamics when the field contributions from multiple roundtrips in the external cavity have a strong impact are also discussed. The results of the theoretical analysis are compared with data obtained in experiments.
