Abstract
This study analyzes new dynamics of laser diodes subject to short EC (νRO < νEC) optical feedback. This dynamics corresponds to packages of high frequency pulses (at νEC) that are modulated by slower, periodic envelope (regular pulse packages or RPP). Numerical results are based on the Lang-Kobayashi equations, for the electrical field E(s) = √(P(s))eiφ(s) and the excess carrier number N. P and φ are the power and the phase of the light wave, time s and the delay time θ are in units of the photon lifetime τp.
