Title :
How Work Integrated Learning Can Meet the Changing Needs of ICT in Higher Education
Author_Institution :
Logan Campus Griffith Univ., Brisbane
Abstract :
Summary form only given. As the ICT industry continues to develop, we are also being asked constantly to re-address the educational requirements of ICT graduates from higher education. Not only do we have to ensure that students are work-ready as the graduate, but questions are being asked as to how to balance their work/study commitments. Many institutions are busy introducing work integrated learning (WIL) programs into curriculums, as a way of preparing and imparting essential knowledge and work experience. This presentation will discuss some of those inherent implications and provide a case study of a new approach currently underway in an Australian University.
