Abstract
Partial discharges are a first indication that an insulation can not withstand a voltage stress permanently. Therefore the measurement of the inception voltage is a very important method for testing. Such voltage tests are performed as well in the way of type or routine testing as at a equipment in service (monitoring). The evaluation of the measurement is performed to reveal the instantaneous condition of an insulation. With regard to the remaining lifetime of an insulation when in service new diagnostic methods have been investigated recently. In this paper analysis of the insulation material degradation process is correlated to the temporal course of pulsed partial discharge phenomena at high frequent voltage stress (100 Hz)
