To study the condition of social avoidance and distress, self consistency and congruence of junior middle school students, and to probe into the influence of self consistency and congruence on social avoidance and distress, 457 junior middle school students were measured by the self consistency and congruence scale (SCCS) and the social and voidance and distress scale (SAD). Results show that among the junior male and female middle school students, there are significant differences in self inconsistency and self stiffness (P<;0.05 or P<;0.01). There are significant gender differences in avoidance and distress (P<;0.05 or P<;0.01). Self inconsistency and self stiffness are positively correlated with social avoidance, distress, and self agility significantly negatively correlated with social avoidance, distress (P <; 0.05 or P <; 0.01). The standards regression coefficient and regression equations of avoidance and distress to self consistency and congruence are significant (P <; 0.01). Self stiffness, self inconsistency and self agility have significant effect on avoidance and distress. Regression equations can explain the total variance of 4.8%, 5.1% and 3.1% of avoidance. Self stiffness, self inconsistency and self agility have more prediction effect on anxiety, their R2 achieved respectively with 24.2 percent, 23.4% and 24.9%.
