Abstract
This paper presents a DSP based intersectional control for multidrive systems which drastically reduces stretches or slacks in the process strip during fast load changes in one of the sections. The proposed intersectional control scheme uses a PI controller of the speed difference. Different methods of speed calculation and speed estimation are evaluated. The experimental evaluation performed in a four-section mechanical system combined with a hybrid drive-simulator scheme shows significant reductions in the maximum angular deviations up to 8.0% of the deviations generated without an intersectional control loop
