Abstract :
This work presents experimental observations of gap soliton formation in a one-dimensional nonlinear media with a periodic refractive index modulation, such as fiber Bragg gratings. In particular, this study determines the zero-velocity gap soliton in the reference frame traveling at the grating velocity.
