Abstract
Costa Rica is no exception to the under-representation of women in computer sciences programs, issue identified in several studies carried out worldwide to analyze this phenomenon. This paper presents the motivating factors, expectations and perceptions on gender issues in the Information Systems study plan in the main campus of the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica, result of an online survey applied to the students. Study results indicate that the main reason for both men and women for enrollment is the preference for computing, while the expectations at the end of the study differ between men and women.
