Abstract :
Information and communication technology (ICT) is very popular among children. A lot of children are playing computer games in their free time not knowing that some games are using game mechanics from actual physics. In this article we discuss how some computer games can be useful in teaching physics and which of them are appropriate for this purpose. Computer games are one of didactical tools that can make lessons more interesting for children and should not be excluded out of teaching. We check main characteristics of educational games and the main difference between none educational games. Our main focus is on popular Angry Birds in which we analyze the physics background of the game, where we try to determine different contents of physics and applicability in physics lessons on specific school level. We show an example proposal how to use Angry Birds in teaching physics in secondary school at topic projectile motion and which software is required to analyze data in the game. We also list additional examples with suitable physical content which are integrated in this computer game.
