Abstract :
A field theory analysis and design procedure for the septum orthomode transducer (OMT) polarizer employed in satellite antennas are presented. The computer-aided design (CAD) method is based on the optimization of the response computed by means of the combination of two field-matching techniques, namely, the generalized transverse resonance technique, applied in the characterization of the ridged waveguide, and the mode-matching technique, used in the analysis of discontinuities between rectangular and ridged waveguides. Theoretical and experimental results are presented for an S-band five-step septum OMT-polarizer.<>
