Abstract :
A novel technique for obtaining low-order estimates of a high-order linear system is proposed. This meets the need for a computationally efficient and conceptually simple algorithm which will yield an estimate of a high-order linear system appropriate for system design purposes. The proposed technique will guarantee that the commonly used system design specifications are identical for both plant and estimate. It overcomes the limitations of most of the existing methods at no additional cost in efficiency
