Abstract :
This paper presents a new protocol for controlling access to the shared radio medium in a multi-tier wireless ATM network. A multi-tier wireless ATM network provides seamless connectivity to the users in multiple geographic environments ranging from local area networks to wide area wireless networks. Dynamic resource allocating media access (DRAMA) provides full support for multiple traffic types with different priorities and for multiple connections per user. DRAMA benefits from statistical multiplexing and allows bursts up to the full channel bandwidth for data traffic. A full description of the protocol and simulation results are presented
