Abstract :
This paper presents a method for demand side management considering the amount of wind power generation. The intermittency of wind power may cause several problems like inadequacy of power, congestion in transmission lines, and power quality. All these technical concerns lead to financial challenges in power market. In this paper, a new concept of flexible loads following the wind farm output power is proposed, where several objectives are optimized through a two stage approach. In the first stage, the available transmission capacity (ATC) of the transmission corridor is maximized while the losses are minimized. In the second stage, the base load power purchased from adjacent network is maximized when the peak of exchanged power is minimized. Numerical studies are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.
