Abstract :
A modified FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) formulation involving the London theory of superconductivity has been developed. It is capable of simulating three-dimensional wave propagation in superconductors. In order to check the validity of this formulation, the propagation of a plane wave through an isotropic superconducting slab has been investigated. A comparison of the simulated results with analytical solutions is shown. The new formulation conserves the efficiency and flexibility of the FDTD method. The proposed method is expected to be applicable to a variety of problems that would otherwise require several different formulations of the known frequency-domain techniques.<>
