Abstract
A study of the effects of noise on diffusion structures in the atom optics kicked rotor (AOKR) is presented. Quantum resonance behaviour is observed as well as more general energy resonances both in simulations and experiments. An experimental realisation of the kicked rotor is used utilising ultra-cold caesium atoms in a detuned optical standing wave pulsed with period T. Effect on these structures of noise applied to the amplitude and period of the AOKR is investigated.
