Abstract :
In this paper, the ionization and attachment coefficients α/N and η/N of SF6/CO2 gas mixtures are calculated. The calculation is done by using the Boltzmann equation analysis under Steady State Townsend (SST) conditions with E/N changed from 192Td to 400Td. The ionization and attachment process of SF6 are fully considered in the calculation while the attachment of CO2 is neglected. The calculated coefficients of SF6 /CO2 gas mixtures are compared with the SST measurement. The results give a good and fair agreement. The calculated limiting breakdown strength of SF6/CO2 gas mixtures (E/N)lim is also compared with the measurement result and gives good agreement. By comparing the electron energy distribution of SF6, CO2, CCl2F2 , the prerequisite of the Wieland approximation is shown
