Abstract
Single-frequency, continuous wave (cw) diode laser sources emitting >0.5 W are of great interest for a number of applications such as nonlinear frequency conversion, telecommunications, and high resolution spectroscopy. The use of tapered gain region has allowed for high power emission in diffraction limited beams, and hundreds of milliwatts of single-frequency power has been obtained. Here, we report on the use of fiber Bragg grating feedback to stabilize the emission of a tapered oscillator such that it lases on a single-external cavity mode throughout the above threshold drive current range
