Abstract :
Rome Laboratory funded a program entitled “DAWS” to investigate the internetworking of demand assigned multiple access (DAMA)-controlled satellite communication, asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and commercial and military wireless land mobile (WLM) networks (Study). This paper presents the analysis of the ATM to DAMA interface. The network configurations developed will evolve into an integrated communications architecture to support the US Air Force Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command communication requirements and focus on emerging technologies, military and commercial open-system standards, and networking concepts as they apply to deployed mobile and airborne communications systems
