Abstract
An all-optical RF channelising receiver for microwave spectrum analysis is demonstrated. The receiver utilises a parallel bank of progressively incremented transmission notches formed using phase-shifted chirped gratings. The demonstrated system is capable of resolving signals in the 2-18 GHz range into 2 GHz bands whilst maintaining a high probability of intercept. The simple topology is capable of extension to higher frequency ranges, higher resolution, and can be packaged into compact, lightweight receiver modules.
