Abstract
To provide proof of concept of the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) in-theater injection capability during the testbed phase (Phase I) of the GBS acquisition, a prototype theater injection point (TIP) was designed, constructed and demonstrated by the US Army Space Command. The prototype TIP was designated the joint in-theater injection (JITI) terminal. This paper describes the design and construction of the JITI terminal. Demonstration of the terminal during the Joint Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (JWID) 96 and during its operation as the uplink facility for the CONUS GBS testbed are discussed. Some specific experiments conducted during the demonstrations are described
