Abstract
The development and the validation of the X-band radar ARABEL, part of the anti-missile naval system SAAM/Fr, is partly based on the exploitation of a detailed simulation of the sensor and of the environment. The analysis of the environment is based on trials realized in the south of France since 1994. Based on these, the differences between the models proposed by the contract and the observed environment are evaluated. This paper presents a comparative analysis between the sea clutter model and the recorded data to evaluate the limitations of the model. The availability of the model is based on statistical criteria. The results of a comparative analysis obtained on recorded data are discussed
