  • Abstract
    A new full design method for developing high bit rate TIA MMICs to be economically produced in large quantities is described in detail. As an example of the method application, the design is reported of a MMIC TIA for 5 Gbit/s optical receivers, having a new circuit topology which allows outstanding improvements of the receiver bandwidth, noise and dynamic range to be obtained. Finally, the great potential of this topology for future developments of high performance and much faster circuits is briefly outlined
