  • Abstract
Vehicle ad hoc network (VANET) featured by distribution, no center and flexibility, largely expands the function of vehicle parts and greatly improves the safety and efficiency of transportation as well. VANET broadcast protocol is the main method to transmit dada. In this paper we analyzed the characteristics and disadvantages of existing broadcast protocols and proposed an improved algorithm named ODAM-C. ODAM-C mainly improves the packet delivery rate through two additional methods based on ODAM. The first distance-based method reduces the possibility of packet loss due to collision by considering the angle between source nodes, forwarding nodes and receiving nodes. The second method increases the redundancy of forwarding nodes to guarantee the packet success delivery ratio. Simulation results illustrate that ODAM-C can improve packet delivery ratio and redundancy compared with the ODAM algorithm.
