Abstract
The return loss and gain of three UWB antennas have been measured. These results were used to predict the antenna performance with UWB signals in both the time and frequency domains. The predictions were then verified with measurements from two UWB signal sources. In contrast similar measurements made on a narrowband communications antenna predict and show much more distortion. The results showing both pulse distortion in the time domain and frequency filtering in the frequency domain are presented in this paper. General design guidelines for UWB antennas are given which minimize the pulse distortion
