Abstract
The detection of ship generated internal waves using an ocean radar is the subject of this article. The signal processing under investigation is a combination of the matched filter technique and the wavelet transform. An internal wave model is presented and used as a kernel function for the technique. A case study from a measurement campaign is discussed. This shows that the matched filter response/wavelet domain gives a significant detection improvement. The inverse wavelet transform technique is simulated for the internal wave model. The shape and size of the reconstruction is close to the original model, and the inverse transform appears to be rotation invariant
