Abstract
An advanced application of the discret variable structure control theory to permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), using a discrete-time varying sliding surface, is proposed. This study deals, in a rigourous analysis and by the use of a modular simulation program simulation, with speed and torque sliding control. Modelling and simulation of the PMSM supplied by a PWM inverter is presented. The continuous time approach is then surveyed. Finally, a discrete time approach is investigated to both two and three sliding surface methods. Simulation results validate the different cases discussed
