Abstract
In order to reduce width fluctuation and deviation of hot strip, a new finisher automatic width control (FAWC) system is going to be applied at No.1 Hot Strip Mill at Fukuyama Works during winter 1995-6. This new control system based on predictive control theory has good following-up controllability to maintain the target width. The outline of the newly developed FAWC system and its computer simulation results are described in this report
