Abstract :
Effective treatment can be done if it is clarified how the pollution region extends when pollution such as red water is generated in the distributing pipe network. Therefore, we have developed a system that simulates changes, over a period of time, in contaminant dispersion. Through dynamic pipe network calculations, made taking into consideration changes in demand and the opening and closing operation of valves, the changing with time of the flow-rate within the pipes can be established, thus allowing time changes in water remaining stagnant in the pipes to also be calculated. How wide an area the contaminant spreads to (how the contaminated water moves within the pipe network from the source of contamination) is established by measuring changes in the concentration of contaminant particles in the water. The information gained is displayed on pipe network diagram in a color graphic display
