Abstract
Cyclones have varied applications in chemical, mining and mineral processing industries. Although they have been in existence for quite some time now, there has been no hypothesis sound enough to elucidate and predict their operations with a number of variable parameters. This paper introduces a scheme for real-time-distributed control of cyclones taking into consideration the merits of existing conventional approaches. The present model considers the efficiency variations with the capacity of shutting down the device in the event of malfunctioning. The entire scheme was implemented in a distributed memory message passing environment employing transputers as processing nodes. A more generalised scheme is also proposed
