Abstract
We investigate the specular component of polarization at resonance diffraction of an arbitrary polarized radiation from an arbitrary oriented grating. It has been found that the specular reflected wave (that is elliptically polarized in general case) is a nontrivial superposition of the linearly polarized wave (regardless of the incident wave polarization) and the one that corresponds to the reflection from the plane surface with the specific resonance reflection coefficient. This reflection coefficient vanishes for some grating magnitudes
