Abstract :
For a monostatic radar, the optimal polarization theory associated with a symmetric scattering matrix was first introduced by E.M. Kennaugh (1952). In the present work, the optimal polarization theory is extended to the case of multistatic radar. The mathematical model in which the total effective echoing area is optimized as a function of the transmitting and receiving antenna polarizations is presented, and the optimal transmitting and receiving antenna polarizations are provided.<>
