Abstract :
Jorge F. Dopazo was a pioneer in computer applications in electric power systems. Before, during, and after the Castro revolution in Cuba he was head of Operations and Planning for the Cuban Electric Company. He led development of the first and second generations of digital control centers for the American Electric Power Company, including successful development of a pioneering state estimator. He was at the top of his field technically, but his greatest contributions were in leading professional teams.
