Abstract
Efficient writing of Bragg gratings in 12-ring highly-nonlinear photonic crystal fibres is described. We perform experimental and numerical investigations to reveal the optimum angle for coupling UV writing light to the core, furthermore, we show that the formation of a strongly briefringent grating at a particular angle of orientation.
