Abstract
Materials utilized in the back contact and absorber layer for CIGS-based cells are relatively expensive. A breakdown of relative material costs is presented and approaches to minimizing material costs are discussed. Investigations of the effects of reduced material amounts on production solar cell performance are detailed. Material utilization efficiencies of key components in the CIGS process are presented as well as investigations of several loss mechanisms
