Abstract :
This paper describes a finite difference time domain (FDTD) analysis of a two-element rectangular patch diversity antenna with various element separation distances. The diversity array was first analysed assuming isotropic elements with no coupling effect, and then as real elements with coupling effect included using the full wave FDTD method. Finally, the diversity arrays were tested in a worst case deep shadow region inside a building, demonstrating strong diversity improvement.
