Abstract
The problem under consideration involves a dielectric layer with relative permittivity, alpha E, permeability mu /sub 1/, and thickness B backed by a perfect electric conductor, and excited by a x-directed pulsed electric current element located at a point inside the layer. The authors develop numerical results based on the asymptotics for TE (transverse electric) modes, and interpret these physically. Particular emphasis is placed on asymptotics based on the rigorous hybrid raymode decomposition.<>
