Abstract
RAMONA (real amplitude-only nulling algorithm) is extended to arbitrary convex surface arrays. A fast beamforming algorithm for adaptive sum and difference patterns in conformal array antennas is presented. It is based on the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization. By using this algorithm, the operations only deal with real numbers. The total number of arithmetic operations is reduced considerably. In addition, the basic criterion for computing the optimal weights is discussed which is effective in keeping the low sidelobe level in sum and difference patterns and in suppressing signals from the jammers. Some computer simulation examples are given, and the computation results confirm the theoretical analysis.<>
