Abstract
A dispersive boundary condition (DBC) for the finite-difference time-domain method is presented. This DBC can absorb waves over a wide frequency band. This DBC is based on a new interpretation of the boundary condition. The relationship between the absorbing boundary condition and digital filters is discussed. On the basis of this new explanation for the DBC, the design of the DBC is investigated using digital filter theory. The relationship between the new DBC and other DBCs is investigated.<>
