Abstract
During September 2007, the European Atomic Energy Community, represented by the Commission of European Communities, awarded a contract for the manufacture of more than 3,000 beryllium wall tiles to Axsys Technologies Inc. The contract required 384 tile design types and more than 500 assemblies of Be tiles to Inconel carriers. The beryllium tile designs have demanding requirements for contamination control, residual stress, part geometry, and quality assurance. The paper will present an overview of the manufacturing and quality control process, looking at the challenges and lessons learned.
