Abstract :
The authors present detailed results on the grating lobe characteristics and the directivities of a triangular array of five-patch crosses and compare them with the case when a rectangular configuration is used. The directivity enhancement due to the parasitic patches is also described. If the parasitic elements in the five-patch cross are removed so that only the fed patch remains, the directivity is about 31.5 dB, with a reduction of impedance bandwidth from 10% to around 1%.<>
