Abstract
A recently proposed compensation technique relies on adjustments to the antenna excitation function (see R.F. Schindel and A.J. Blanchard, 1988) and is therefore particularly suitable for active and electronically scanned arrays. The proposed compensation technique has been implemented. In the present work, the author describes the algorithm utilized to calculate the compensating antenna illumination and presents measured results, from a planar near-field scanner, for a phased array antenna. Results include antenna patterns before and after installation of the scatterer and after compensation via the antenna illumination. Images of the antenna and scatterer are also included. It is noted that, although total compensation was not achieved, preliminary results clearly demonstrate the potential effectiveness of the technique.<>
