Abstract
A direct torque and flux control design for an induction motor, following a sliding mode approach, is presented here. This strategy gives a discontinuous control, which guides the state evolution to a given manifold in the state space, that define the system performance. The discontinuous characteristic of the actuator is involved in the design procedure and results in a discontinuous controller
