Abstract
Over the last twenty years, soft computing has developed rapidly as a discipline and method for the diagnosis and prognosis in medical informatics. In this paper we try to introduce a new method for the prognosis in the cancer subdomain of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. An overview of the new techniques is presented, and instances of these in NPC cancer research are discussed. An insight into the plausible makeup of NPC data, for current and future systems is presented. The absence of any previous occurrence of the use of genetic algorithms influences the choice as an alternative means for determining NPC prognosis.
