Abstract :
Currently existing electronic mail systems allow for the exchange of text documents sometimes with the addition of graphics or other information types. However, no standards exist which support the submission and delivery of compound multimedia documents in a heterogeneous multivendor environment. To overcome these deficiencies, the European RACE project “Coordination, Implementation and Operation of MultiMedia Services” (RACE 2060, CIO) comprises the specification and development of a prototype MultiMedia Mail Service (MMMS) based on international standards
